PaddleSplash Makes Waves on Lake Natoma This July!

If your summer needs a splash of adventure, PaddleSplash is calling your name. Mark your calendars for July 25–27, when Lake Natoma transforms into Northern California’s hottest spot for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), fitness, and family-friendly fun.

Hosted by NorCal SUP Groms, PaddleSplash isn’t just for elite racers—it’s a festival designed for absolutely everyone, whether you’re a seasoned paddler or someone who’s never stepped onto a board.

What Makes PaddleSplash So Special?

At its heart, PaddleSplash is all about making SUP accessible and fun. Here’s just a taste of what you can expect over the three-day festival:

SUP Races for Every Level: Test your skills (and stamina) in 2-mile, 5-mile, or 8-mile distance races. The water at Lake Natoma is famously calm—ideal for newbies and pros alike.

Sprint and Relay Races: Want a quick adrenaline boost? Enter the 200-meter sprints or join friends for the relay races. These shorter events keep the energy high and the competition fierce.

Poker Paddle: This is a fan favorite—a playful event where paddlers collect cards at various points on the water, hoping to end up with the best poker hand. It’s less about speed and more about smiles.

SUP Yoga and Clinics: If racing’s not your jam, try a peaceful session of SUP yoga, blending balance, core strength, and the serenity of floating on the lake. Or sign up for technique clinics taught by local pros—perfect for learning or improving your paddle skills.

Family Vibes: Kids are a huge part of PaddleSplash. The “Grom” races give younger paddlers a safe and exciting chance to compete, and there’s plenty of space for families to relax, explore vendors, and soak up the lakeside fun.

Community Focus: PaddleSplash wraps up with a community beach clean-up, reminding everyone that enjoying the water comes with taking care of it, too.

A Cause Worth Paddling For

Beyond the fun, PaddleSplash supports an important mission. Proceeds benefit NorCal SUP Groms, a Granite Bay-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting youth paddling, water safety, and confidence-building. Their programs help foster kids, at-risk youth, and families discover the transformative power of being on the water.

From weekday practices to summer camps, NorCal SUP Groms gives kids a chance to build athletic skills, friendships, and lifelong memories. PaddleSplash is their biggest event of the year, and showing up helps keep their programs thriving.

So whether you’re chasing a personal record, stretching into warrior pose on a board, or just cheering from shore, PaddleSplash is a perfect way to enjoy Sacramento’s summer vibes.
